   New 2011 Chrysler 300 revealed!

Few cars have been able to turn the industry on its axis as profoundly as the 300C did when it entered the scene in 2004 as a

2005 model, therefore anticipation for and speculation about an all-new Chrysler flagship sedan has been high for a very long time. Now photos and interior details reveal what's most important about the new 2011 model.

First off, it was a given that the new 300 would get a version of the automaker's recently introduced 3.6-litre Pentastar V6, as well as its 5.7-litre Hemi V8. Whether or not the new model will debut with Chrysler's upcoming eight-speed automatic has yet to be announced, but the automaker is pushing hard to that end, having invested another $85 million to retool its Kokomo Transmission Plant where the new gearbox will be manufactured so that it can arrive on the market sooner than later. If not available at launch, Chrysler's tried and tested five-speed automatic will soldier on.

President Obama's former car czar who led the U.S. federal government's efforts to save two of Detroit's automakers from liquidation

bankruptcy, spoke to the Automotive Press Association Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, just three days before General Motors initial public offering (IPO) stock offering.

Steven Rattner – a Democratic fundraiser, Wall Street financier and former New York Times reporter – is under indictment by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that he allegedly was involved in a pay-for-play scheme involving the New York state pension fund that siphoned away more than $30 million. A possible settlement with the SEC has been on hold for more than a month. When Rattner was asked about the allegations, he mentioned that nothing had been proven and that he was not there "to discuss that in detail."

Instead he spoke about the challenges of restructuring GM and Chrysler, international competition that has siphoned away North American jobs, and President Barack Obama's directives for saving the domestic auto industry by the injection of $80 billion in taxpayer funds.

Originally the Detroit Economic Club had scheduled Rattner to speak to its members, but the organization disinvited him following the SEC indictment. That is when the Automotive Press Association (APA) invited him, noted JoAnn Muller, Detroit bureau chief for Forbes magazine and APA president.

Chrysler 8-speed transmission to hit the road sooner

Just like we're constantly told through advertising that razors need more blades to give a smoother shave, automatic gearboxes

are deemed better if they have more gears. Like those razors, however, one has to wonder when enough is enough. After all, how many gears can be added before you might as well build a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission)?

The number of gears in Chrysler's upcoming automatic transmission has been proven to be just the right balance for fuel economy and performance says Lexus and media professionals who have tested it. Lexus was the first to introduce an 8-speed automatic, which put it ahead of the majority of competitors still utilizing 6-speed automatic transmissions and one-upped its key rival Mercedes-Benz, which had just introduced its 7-speed autobox.

Chrysler isn't in the same league as Lexus, Mercedes-Benz or those competing against them in the premium segment, but like Hyundai has recently done with its Genesis and new Equus luxury sedans, and for that matter how the Auburn Hills-based domestic brand did years ago with its own 300C, there's no reason why the new <Read More>

New midsize Chrysler 200 to replace unloved Sebring

There has been more speculation around Chrysler's Sebring and its expected replacement than just about any other upcoming

model changeover in the industry, and for good reason. The Sebring has not only been a dud that needs to be marked down to entry-level compact prices before it leaves the showroom floor, but as importantly it's a blight tarnishing the Auburn Hills automaker's image that has long needed to be removed.

It appears that time has come with the advent of the new Chrysler 200. We expected the numeric name change would be part of the package, although we didn't expect the new model would be here so soon, and also riding on Sebring underpinnings. This said there's nothing particularly wrong with the Sebring platform, but rather its styling and interior execution has been the cause of most negativity.

In a press release that introduces the new 200, Chrysler states it has remedied this problem with "exceptional <Read More>

2010 Chrysler Sebring Limited Convertible Road Test Review

Sebring is probably the Chrysler nameplate most familiar to the public. Extensively available in rental fleets, a Sebring of some

stripe can be seen at nearly every intersection. This is both good and bad for Chrysler. On one hand, Chrysler sells a lot of Sebrings that it otherwise wouldn't sell; on the other hand, it's never good for a nameplate's retail business to be so widely perceived as rental fodder.

Prejudice, however, doesn't serve one well in social settings or when vehicle shopping. This is true with the Sebring Convertible. Is it the best drop top on the road? Nope. But with a starting sticker of $25,915 for the base LX version, it is reasonably priced and loaded with standard features such as a power convertible top, full power accessories, cruise control, air conditioning, and a six-speaker audio system. The 2010 Ford Mustang Convertible is the only other four-seat drop top that manages to sneak under the Sebring's entry-level price and that's only by $1,093.

2010 Chrysler Town and Country Limited Road Test Review

"Caution, ferry on the route. Follow the arrow on the display!" were the words my navigation system announced after inputting

my desired destination while sitting in my test car on the vehicle deck of the Queen of Coquitlam ferry en route from West Vancouver's Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. The well-spoken cyber woman was all too serious about my mid-channel predicament, causing me to literally laugh out load as I pondered the floatation capability that must be engineered into my Town and Country in order for such information to have ever been programmed into the device. While no water sealed hull could be found underneath nor propellers or jets protruding from behind, the minivan was a fine traveling companion. Truly, if there's a better vehicle to travel in than a full-size minivan, I don't know what it is.

I use the contradicting terms "full-size" and "minivan" in the same sentence to make a point about <Read More>
