I also tell them I expect them to make a fair profit. It shortcuts the process and lets them know I am serious about buying the vehicle. However, I am still willing to walk if I don't get my target price. I did this with my 2009 Tucson, the rep called me a week later and I got my price. With my Audi purchase this summer, we made the deal in 10 minutes! I saved $2000 from the best initial offer I had at a Toronto dealer before I had looked up the car on car cost can.
