Camry beats other competitors hands down in features and resale value. Craig is a down to earth guy, very straight forward and very easy to deal with. I disclosed the Car Cost Canada price and deal was done in minutes.

Negotiate with the dealer not a broker. I got a better price from the dealer than the broker quoted me.

I talked to the fleet manager who because of volume was willing to do just $500 over invoice.

TOUGH NEGOTIATIONS PRIOR TO VEHICLE PURCHASE I purchased the vehicle on July 31st with a delivery date of September 5. The sales people are not "pushy". Most of my high rating goes to the dealer sales rep., Coulter. He was patient and he sought quick answers to questions he could not answer right away. The manager of the sales team really stayed close to the retail price. My first formal offer which was refused was $400 below the retail price. Most of my "savings' or "deal" ended up coming through free accessories and no increased freight and delivery charge. Toward the end of the negotiations (after my sales rep met in another office for the third time with his manager) I was presented with a new, printed price list for freight and delivery which indicated a $130 increase for the Toyota Matrix effective August 1, 2008. When the sales person saw the CarCostCanada papers, he quickly reminded me how well Matrix sales were and how his manager would not move far from the retail price. My Matrix is a manual drive model with roll up windows and no aircondition system. I was told my Matrix was going to be a "special order". Nevertheless, in the past, I have learned that all vehicles assembled at the Toyota manufacturing plant in North Cambridge have already been ordered by dealers in North and South America. In other words, the Toyota plant does not assemble cars that have not yet been sold. (I have toured that plant three times in the past ten years.) I was also reminded about the need for good profit to maintain decent staff payroll. I test drove the car three times (three separate dates). The sales people let me test drive the car alone. I chose Cambridge Toyota, even though I live in Guelph, because colleagues and friends have had good rapport with the service department and have experienced good product reliability. I was also forwarned by colleagues and friends that Toyota dealers in Guelph, Kithener and Cambridge would stay very close to the retail price.

I used the wholesale report to get quotations from two different dealers and then negotiated the price by showing quote from one dealer to other to get a better offer.

Mike from Milton, ON reported on Friday, July 29, 2011, buying a 2011 Toyota Venza, and saving $6,000 off of MSRP.
I sent an offer of 3% over invoice to 6 local dealers while I was on vacation. I was suprised that 5 came back accepting the deal. Then, when I got home I drove my trade in to each dealer to have it appraised. Cambridge Toyota gave the best deal for my trade-in (by far). The service was very good. Only downside was that the trade-in offer was "if you're ready to commit now, I can get you this deal". I had wanted to go to a few more places, but the deal was very good. We also had a mechanical issue with the car that day and they agreed to comp the diagnosis (and ultimatley the repair). Still, the trade in offer was significantly more than what I'd seen at other dealerships. No attempt at upselling (by the sales rep or the finance rep). I would go back myself and recommend this dealer (and sales rep) to anyone. But, you might want to go after you get your trade-in appraised at other dealers first if you get the same tactic I did. In the end, we saved $3750 (after tax) due to Toyota cash back deal and $2000 from negotiations using the CarCostCanada report. We spent the same as we would have if we paid the sticker price on used 2009 Venzas we'd seen with 40k kms.

Rich features, more than one dealer around. Show the sales manager the price in the report.

John from Kitchener, ON reported on Thursday, April 09, 2009, buying a 2009 Toyota Venza, and saving $2,000 off of MSRP.
I chose Cambridge Toyota again as they will give a price without playing games. They knew we had done our research and they gave us a good price. Other dealers including the one recommended by Car Cost Canada were not willing to give much of a discount as the Venza is new and selling well.
