| Andrew from Vancouver, BC reported on Sunday, November 06, 2011, buying a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan, and saving $500 off of MSRP. He swapped the Car Cost Canada wholesale price for the MSRP on the invoice, after we had negotiated. I did not notice what he did, and that was my mistake. I will never purchase another VW again. | ![]() | |
| Dale from West Vancouver, BC reported on Sunday, April 04, 2010, buying a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Sedan, and saving $1,500 off of MSRP. Carcost report was very worthwhile. Had dealt with a different dealer who offered a price barely below MSRP and wouldn't budge. With the Carcost report the referred dealer offered an excellent price up front and then lowered or waived a number of fees. Bottom line was a lease price $40 per month lower. | ![]() | |

| June from Vancouver, BC reported on Friday, June 19, 2009, buying a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta Wagon, and saving $1,000 off of MSRP. My dealer was recommended by CarCostCanada, but I already had a previous relationship with them through the purchase of my first car- not that it helped any with the negotiations. I know I could have fought for a lower markup. In the end, I got 5.2%, which isn't bad for the model I purchased. I don't like that I get a sales rep inquiry as soon as I put together a report. I tried out several combinations for two models and got email inquiries for all of them. | ![]() | |
| Alain from Vancouver, BC reported on Thursday, May 28, 2009, buying a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta Wagon, and saving $500 off of MSRP. The wholesale price report didn't help much this time around. I got a very little discount, and the dealer made its 8% profit on me. The main reason, I think, was because the car I was looking for was rare on the market (no dealer had the car in stock in BC, and there was a very little quantity in transit. A baseline, diesel, manual transmission, station wagon is not a common request!). Also the dealer was promoting a 0% financing, which I needed to use (that's representing some value, also the interest rate are pretty low these days...). I still gave me $250 discount (not counting that I had to pay an extra $450 for an option I didn't want, just because there was not car available without options). The dealer was nice and offered some great floor mats, and a full gas tank (which represents about $150). Bottom of the line, if you want to be in a strong position for a good discount, you'd better choose a car they have in stock, and not need the financing. In conclusion, the report was not so helpful to me, but I could see how it could be helpful to others (it has been for me in a previous car buying experience). Talking about the Jetta Wagon TDI Green Diesel, I got the car earlier than expected (they succeeded to re-route one going to Alberta). I have had it only for two days, and I am very excited about it. This is currently one unique car on the market in this category, that on paper, beats flat all it's competition in the following categories : fuel efficiency / Green, Torque, Cargo space and warranty Power train and body for the price. So if you need a useful family car some cargo space + root rack + towing capacity and a top gas per millage, this is the rare model you'll find that has it all, in this price range. Knowing the VW quality, I am confident this car will deliver on promises. | ![]() | |

| Mike from Surrey, BC reported on Saturday, January 16, 2010, buying a 2009 Volkswagen Routan, and saving $1,000 off of MSRP. Most of the transaction was made over the phone and email since we had already decided on the vehicle. It went very smooth and the carcost report made things very easy. We only had to show up at the dealership to take delivery and sign the paperwork. The process could not have been any easier or more convenient. This is the fourth vehicle we have purchased using this service. I would not buy a new vehicle without checking the reports first! | ![]() | |

| Mark from Vancouver, BC reported on Saturday, August 16, 2008, buying a 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan, and saving $1,000 off of MSRP. David Wong was pretty bad,he didn't know the vehicle at all. I offered $39,000 and he went to the manager twice. Finally the sales manager came out and I told him I wasn't going to pay more than $39,000 and they added a "document fee" to my quote which added another $350. He admitted that the document fee was profit, so I asked him what he would give me for the $350. I negotiated winter rubber car mats and 2 free oil changes and $700 over cost on my next Jetta purchase. (told them I was also in the market for a Jetta). I feel I got a good deal since this was the 3rd dealer I spoke with and walked away from 2 quotes already. All dealers on the new Tiguan will hold thier price. Just do what you can to get some add ons. Also, delivery was very long and not what they promised. They said they would make it up to me. So when November comes I'm going to ask for the cross-over bars for our ski rack. | ![]() | |
| Mitchell from Vancouver, BC reported on Tuesday, November 25, 2008, buying a 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan, and saving $2,500 off of MSRP. Review the report prior to going and have a number in mind and be prepared to submit the deal and be calm and collective over the process but stay firm and if they will not budge on price then I would ask for services or accessories in place of a deduction in price i.e. cargo liner, window deflectors, upgraded rubber mats, maintenance services or oil changes etc.; the list is endless. But do your research, as information is key. | ![]() | |
