JJ from Pickering, ON reported on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, buying a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500, and saving $10,000 off of MSRP.
Okay first thing... my savings were closer to $11,000 ($41,795 MSRP and $30,916 negotiated price). I've been cruising CCC for quite some time, probably close to 3 years. During that time I've been thoroughly schooling/ educating myself on the ins and outs of buying/leasing a new vehicle. It all paid off today. I didn't actually lay out my CCC report until after the negotiation and after the sales rep asked me how I knew so much. I totally owned her through the negotiation. I let her do her usual stuff for the first half of the negotiation, then I started squeezing and finally made her a final take it or leave it offer. After some considerable time with her sales/leasing manager, we closed the deal. I must add though this was the second dealership I went to. The first dealership I went to (Village Chrylser) pretty much wouldn't negotiate with me. Too bad for them I guess... Anyway, the dealership (Davidson) ended up finding some employee number they could use on my behalf so I could take advantage of the employee purchase offers currently at hand. Being a non Chrysler employee nor an affiliate employee, I was not eligible for that discount. Had I known they were going to do this for me, I would've tried to squeeze them for at least another $1000. I'll know better next time. If anyone wants to contact me, feel free. I'll gladly share my experience in more detail. Email me at jjmaclellan@rogers.com
