Buying a 2012 Hyundai Accent, and saving $2000 off of MSRP.
I have purchased 2 vehicles using CarCostCanada's wholesale price reports. This was the first one that also included a "CCC Recommended Dealer", and this made a huge difference. Prior to seeing the recommended dealer, I went to 2 other dealerships to get a "competitive" price. Both dealerships were within $100 of each other and both were quoting above retail! (They included things such as window engraving, document fees, etc., that I didn't want/need and told me that
this was the best they would offer, given that there were very few available.) When I called the recommended dealer, the contact given turned out to be the General Sales Manager, who immediately put me at ease. We then met face-to-face and within minutes had worked out an agreeable price. Not only had we agreed upon a % over the wholesale price (just as CCC had suggested), but he informed me that the Factory-to-Dealer rebate was more than what I had on my CCC report! When was the last time you had a dealership give you more off the price than you expected?! (To CCC's credit, I did receive an email about a week later that advised me of the new, higher rebate.) If CCC has a recommended dealer for the vehicle you want, I strongly recommend you give them a call and don't waste your time with "inflexible" sales people at other dealerships.
