Make it clear you have the dealer cost before you start your negotiations. I find it eliminates the BS. Also remember to be fair with your offer. The dealer needs to make a profit and some popular cars demand more than others.

Jose from Toronto, ON reported on Thursday, March 31, 2011, buying a 2011 MINI Cooper Hardtop, and saving $2,000 off of MSRP.
From all the subcompacts we tested, the Mini Cooper was the most fun to drive, the most powerful for its class, and one of the best equipped and with the best quality interior and exterior. It was a bit pricier than other cars we checked, but it was worth paying the extra difference. Other cars we evaluated: Smart for two, Ford Fiesta, Fiat 500, Toyota Yaris, Mazda 2. As for the Mini dealership we chose, we checked 3 different dealers, and Downtown Mini not only offered us the lowest price but also the best trade-in for our old car.

Bought a demonstrator with very low kms - was able to secure a low price. Important to understand manufacturer's deals.

- Ernie was extremely helpful and friendly - Feel free to show the carcostcanada invoice pricing report to the dealership. Besides saving yourself money, it can save you a lot of time from unnecessary negotiating.

The Downtown Mini was great. They have: excellent service, let you have the car by yourself for the test drive, no high pressure sales tactics, reasonable at negotiating, quick, courteous. I would recommend highly. Should be made available by car cost canada to customers in Toronto, instead of Oakville Mini.

Kit from Scarborough, ON reported on Saturday, August 15, 2009, buying a 2009 MINI Cooper Hardtop, and saving $1,500 off of MSRP.
I went to MINI Markham first because it's closer to where I live. They told me the Cooper S was sold out and asked me to pre-order. I thought I would check other dealers before I pre-ordered. In retrospect, I wondered why MINI Markham did not check the other dealers before telling me the Cooper S was sold out even if I did NOT push them. I expected them to do that if they wanted my business. By the time I went to MINI Downtown, I pretty much knew what I wanted for my MINI already and so I did not ask a lot of questions. I used Car Cost Canada to do my research on what a reasonable range of discount I should asked for. I do believe I should have been able to push for a better deal if I wanted to, but I thought it was a reasonable deal so I was happy. Car Cost Canada helped me a lot with the research before I went to the dealer and it made me feel more 'educated'.

david from Markham, ON reported on Saturday, June 06, 2009, buying a 2009 MINI Cooper Hardtop, and saving $2,000 off of MSRP.
The dealer and sales rep were very friendly and allowed me to take out 4 different cars (cooper s, clubman s, cooper jcw) on my own. I then went back with my wife and daughter (plus car seat) and took the jcw out again. Near the beginning of negotiations I showed him the wholesale price report and started the negotiations from there.

mark from oakville, ON reported on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, buying a 2009 MINI Cooper Hardtop, and saving $1,500 off of MSRP.
The vehicle is great. The dealer was more willing than another dealer to drop the price to at least come closer to the carcost price. However, one would be better able to get an even lower price if paying cash as opposed to leasing.

Brian Elkin at Downtown MINI in Toronto was fantastic to work with. Of the 6 MINI dealers I emailed Brian was the only one who truly wanted my business. He was very quick to reply to all of my emails (more than 6) and gave detailed answers to all my concerns. He was just as good in person. Brian was willing to negotiate on the price of the vehicle and I am very happy with the deal I received. Thank you Carcostcanada for the invoice pricing and the confidence it gave me for the fair offer I made to the dealership.
