Jonathan from Edmonton, AB reported on Thursday, December 09, 2010, buying a 2011 Subaru Forester, and saving $1,500 off of MSRP.
I tried dealing with Rally Subaru in Edmonton. They unfortunately pulled a bait and switch on me. The original deal was negotiated as an all-in deal, including all taxes and fees. After I signed, when I went to pick up the vehicle a few days later, they had added taxes and fees on top of the negotiated price, totalling over $1300 more than was agreed upon. They became aggressive, saying I had to sign the new revised deal or they would keep my $1000 partial payment. I tried to work with them, tried to compromise with them, but they weren't interested in anything but pushing their new version of our agreement. We are now in the process of fighting to get my $1000 back. In the mean time, I went to Scott Subaru, and had a very good experience dealing with them there.

MARK from EDMONTON, AB reported on Saturday, February 06, 2010, buying a 2010 Subaru Legacy, and saving $2,000 off of MSRP.
I'm the happy owner of a shiny new 2010 Subaru Legacy 3.6R Limited, which I purchased January 2010 from Scott Subaru in Red Deer, Alberta. I just wanted to send a short note to let you folks know how pleased I was with the great folks at Scott Subaru. General sales manager, sales consultant and parts and service representatives were all a delight to work with. Here are some of the things I enjoyed most, where Scott Subaru staff excelled: - During the price negotiation for the new vehicle, sales staff were fully honest with me and had high integrity through the entire process. We easily arrived at a fair purchase price. - Sales staff never once asked for profit they didn''t earn - I received value for every penny (i.e., no extra fees for anything - this was really appreciated). - Sales staff never once tried to pressure me to purchase anything I didn't need and there were no 'add-ons' that I didn't ask for - I simply selected the car and accessories that I wanted and that was it. - When it came time to pick up the new car, I took a bus from Edmonton to Red Deer. When I arrived at the bus terminal in Red Deer, the Sales Manager was there waiting to pick me up and gave me a ride to the dealership. - The parts and service staff did a perfect job getting the car ready and installing the accessories I had ordered; they got everything right the first time. - There was a great friendly atmosphere at the dealership - I could tell that the staff were happy in their work environment and that everyone supported and respected one another. I felt that I could talk to anyone. All this made me feel very comfortable. The above things may seem simple, but are not easily found at car dealerships from my experience. I got the feeling that the folks at Scott Subaru were grateful and really appreciated my business; they thanked me at least a half-dozen times. I live in Edmonton and there was no question in my mind that it was well worth the 150 km trip to Scott Subaru in Red Deer to get such excellent treatment from a Subaru dealer. I''m now telling all my friends in Edmonton who are considering a new Subaru to visit Scott Subaru in Red Deer for an excellent customer experience.

We chose Scott Subaru after checking with other Subaru dealers in Alberta, and finding it had given us, without prompting from us, the best price by a significant margin. They were also very pleasant, helpful, and straightforward to deal with.

Susan from Rockyford, AB reported on Thursday, January 06, 2011, buying a 2011 Subaru Outback, and saving $1,000 off of MSRP.
Wholesale price pretty much ignored (mocked?) by Subaru dealers. What deals offered were given up front and at first request. Their product was moving too quickly to create much bargaining room - even with factory incentives. It was even hard to get competitive pricing from one dealer to the next. Buying ended up being more about choosing the most attentive and straightforward rep and dealership. Be careful with the documentation fee that is being added. It varies between dealerships.
