It’s one thing to see a Lamborghini in motion, it’s quite another to actually drive one.
I recently experienced both.
When my daughter Skylar purchased a half-hour driving experience package from Ultimate Exotics in Stoney Creek, Ontario for her boyfriend Mitchell as a birthday present, I gushed seeing the Huracán up close.
My wife, Christine, saw my reaction and surprised me by purchasing a similar driving experience as a gift.
I was given a tutorial by Ultimate Exotics representative Jordan, who recognized me from my career as a kicker in the Canadian Football League. Jordan told me he would be in front of me in an SUV in the route we would take and be in contact via walkie talkie. He told me I could air out the car but to be careful.
I told him I didn’t want to air it out. Just the thought of driving a Lamborghini was more than enough.
The explosive sound of the car starting up immediately made me nervous. With Mitchell sitting beside me, I cautiously got a feel for the car.
Mitchell told me I had to air it out, so I did.
Wow.
I have never felt power like that.
I’m driving a Lambo, baby, I shouted out. What a rush.
When they talk about going from zero to 60 miles per hour in a few seconds, it’s ridiculous how this car did it. My 1993 Mustang is a decent, fast car, but it’s not even in the same ballpark as this one.
The pickup was insane. Just sheer power. I didn’t feel the shifting. It was constant acceleration and totally seamless. I would love to know what it feels like to be on a track and have the pedal down to the floor.
Let’s put it this way, if it had a pair of wings on it there’s no doubt in my mind it would take off. It’s that fast.
The route I drove was mainly on back roads with no traffic to allow me to reach high speeds.
During the drive, rain came down fiercely as part of a storm that ripped through the area and I could barely see 15 feet in front of me. Can you believe it?
I was shocked at how easy the car handled. I actually was scared because I know the power of my Mustang and in the rain it tends to fishtail when you accelerate being rear-wheel drive. This car has four-wheel drive, so it was not an issue.
I posted a video of my experience on Facebook and some of my followers thought I owned it and was able to purchase through the sales of my recently-released autobiography, Be That One. I had to laugh and explain to everyone the car was being rented.
I can honestly say it took me a couple of days to come down to earth from experience.
I totally recommend trying this.
